Am I Enough?

Hello, everyone!
My name is Geneva, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the BBB blog team! I can’t wait to share my journey and experiences with all of you.
A little about me: I’m a 14-year-old American girl who was born in the U.S. but moved to Japan when I was about two and a half years old. Since then, I’ve lived in Japan most of my life, with occasional trips back to the States.
I attended Japanese school from Pre-K through 6th grade, and now I’m an 8th grader at an international school in Tokyo.
I consider myself a curious person who loves exploring different things. Whether it’s music, dance, or sports, I’m often busy with after-school activities. While trying new things is exciting, it also means I can’t always excel at everything, and I sometimes wonder, “Am I enough?”
When I was in Japanese school, I often felt self-conscious. I wasn’t “Japanese enough” for my classmates, yet I didn’t feel “American enough” when I visited the U.S. Navigating my mixed identity was tough, but finding my community at an international school helped me realize something important: it’s okay not to fit perfectly into one culture. I’m still enough, and that’s all that matters.
Being part of multiple cultures can be challenging. Change is hard, and as an international student, stability isn’t always guaranteed. But one thing is certain: here at BBB, you’re always welcome, and there’s a community ready to support you.
I’m so excited to share my experiences with you through the BBB blogs. Let’s navigate this journey together!
