Hi everyone! I'm Sara Kawakami, a member of the Belonging Beyond Borders event team and blog team. I am looking forward to creating unforgettable moments for you!

Let me start by sharing a bit about who I am. I'm a 17-year-old Japanese girl living in  London, UK for the last year and a half. Before that, I spent 10 years in Japan and a previous time in the US (though I don’t remember much of that time!).

Academically, I completed compulsory education in Japan, earned my IB MYP, and recently finished my GCSEs here in the UK. Right now, I’m in Year 12, studying for my A-levels at a local school in London. 

I see myself as someone who loves to dive deep into thoughts and explore new things. I have a real passion for learning and enjoy connecting with all sorts of people. While I like meeting new people and making new connections, I often find it very challenging to settle into a new environment, especially in a new school. Just because enjoying making new friends doesn’t automatically make me a pro at it.

 Throughout my life, I've attended 8 schools, counting even from kindergarten, and each time, I had to start from scratch without knowing anyone there. It was never easy and never the same. But I hope my experience can help you navigate and adapt to your new environment. I'm excited to share so much with you!

One thing I want you to know is that you're never alone. We're here for you, just as you are for us. It's okay to ask for help and lean on others; let us be the ones to support you :) We truly appreciate having you as part of our community.
